Is the quality of your yarn the only way to attract customers?
Are you sure that the quality of your yarn is perceived by your customer? Does it make sense to invest in a beautiful and well-finished label, when Is the yarn the protagonist?
Read on and you will discover an experiment done on the packaging for the sale of chocolates; I am sure that after reading you will reconsider the importance of your label.
The experiment, published in the International Journal of Gastronomy and Food Science, involved a group of consumers and two types of chocolate: milk and dark.
The participants first tasted dark chocolates and then milk chocolates. So far nothing strange… but what interests us is the packaging that was used for the chocolates.
The sweets came in 7 different colored packages: first chocolates divided by flavor in a black package, then in a blue, green box and so on until the lighter colors like pink and yellow. At the end of the tastings, the participants rated the chocolates based on their preferences, indicating the best dark and milk chocolate and the most bitter.
Thus, the dark chocolates in the black box were the most bitter, while the milk chocolates in the same package were chosen as the best for quality. In the yellow and pink box, the chocolate taste was sweeter than in the green one.
But in reality, all the dark and milk chocolates in all the packages were the same.
The perception of taste changed depending on the box: sight affects the mind.
The experiment aimed to demonstrate how important the first impression is, to the point of changing the taste of identical chocolates. Imagine… Only the color of the box influenced the taste of the products. Imagine what power a label designed specifically for your balls of wool can have!
Your yarn may be the best in the world, but how can a potential customer perceive this quality if they have never tried your yarn? The answer is: with the label!
Quality paper, a special shape and a memorable design will make your yarns unique and unforgettable.
As Oscar Wilde said: “You never get a second chance to make a good first impression.”
At this point you have three different choices.
You can continue to believe that your potential customers do not pay attention to your label.
You could also create a “do it yourself” label, printing it at home or at any print shop, with the risk of being yet another anonymous brand among many others.
The last option is to rely on a specialized printing house, which will transform your label from a simple anonymous band to a magnet to attract potential customers.
